Cold visions of turquoise
blinded by sight
stunned by the fall
of the moment
undulation
under
over
her
Cycle the waves
and the tides
and the times
This cycle is endless
Breathless
The cycle is breathless
Relentless
This cycle is eternally
lack
of permanence
of stability
of eternity
Yet
The view from the beach
the sea feels calm
sounds calm
smells calm
This rhythmic swell cycle
lulls babies to sleep
While
Churning her under
the sea presses deep
upside down slam the seafloor
Shoving her head
with both His hands
deep into its shame
Stinging her nose
with sharp sands of time
burned into each pulse
These slices of seconds
still choke like a lifetime
saltwater
silent
suffocation
In the underworld water
where no one will see
where everyone lives
inches beyond an un-breathing struggle
where happy families put on the sunscreen
where teenage girls splash for the camera
where Uncle John throws the football
where everyone lives
within arm’s distance of saving a soul
where everyone breathes
fingertips touching, the air is withheld
where everyone drowns
merrily
merrily
gently
Does this wave decide
When she will float still
Or did she decide
go deep, too long, too tired, too much
Can my swim stroke endure this ride
Or must I wait on His fickle tide
To release my mornings
my musings
my wanderings
To release me from His hand, His side
It has only been ten seconds
But I know how this goes
